After watching the video of the tourist screaming at the camera「無大陸，香港食屎」and of the tour guide explaining her side of the story, I finally understand the problem is bigger than the structural weakness of the "shopping tours" industry. What we have here is a case of the newly-rich mainlander vs the hard-done-by Hong Kongnese, the former with an overblown ego and the latter a victimized self-image.
Since 1997, some of the ppl living in HK seem to have loss confidence in and identity of themselves. They feel resentful, rightly or wrongly, for not being appreciated and not being treated fairly. It is high time they find something unique that they can be proud of, a symbol, an icon, a collective accomplisment !!!
THERE IS NOTHING HONK KONGNESE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF ABT THEIR HUMBLE PAST !!! THE PREVIUS GENERATIONS WORKED THEIR BUTTS OFF TO MAKE A LIVING OUT OF THESE BARREN ROCKS!!!
As to Mr. Newly-rich, a jerk will always be a jerk wherever he goes !!! "

我想講,
很多接待內地團的導遊都是新來港的內地人,
他/她們的想法和香港人不同,
但卻和內地遊客一脈相承,
就是見錢開眼,
(當然香港導遊都可能係咁, 不過我們看到不少出事的都是滿口鄉音的導遊)
連同早前的阿珍事件,
我看到零團費問題,
以至導遊、遊客質數問題,
根本整個工業就是內地遊客和新移民導遊在角力,
政府要徹底根治這個畸形的零團費工業。

You are right !! Something needs to be done (by govt and/or the tourist industry) to get rid of the bitter taste in everyone's mouth.
